This fun, fascinating class is an introduction to many of the amazing birds in our own area. Employing photos, bird sound recordings, and a combination of classroom and field sessions, you will learn the basics of birding in a supportive, stress-free environment. You will begin building your basic field skills, learning how to use your field guide, apps, and optics, and employing useful identification techniques. Weather permitting, much of the class will involve practical field practice. Please arrive for the first class with binoculars and a field guide, if you have them. This is an excellent opportunity to develop nature photography skills with the eventual goal of sales. Students can also train to be docents for the wetlands center.

In this intermediate class, we will work on individual projects. Wheel throwers and hand builders are both welcome. We will support and learn from each other as this is more of an open studio space than a class with set lessons or curriculum. Students should have some experience working with clay. Bring any pottery tools you own and a towel to the first class. If you want to throw on bats please bring your own bats and pins. Pieces will be glazed and fired in class.
